Nicky Edmondson

Appointed CEO in 2018 Nicky is a talented educationalist and successful leader. She has extensive experience of successfully leading change, developing and delivering strategy at local and national level, and inspiring and developing future leaders. As CEO Nicky provides challenge and support to principals, leadership coaching and professional development for leaders. She also chairs the Swindon and Wiltshire MAT Learning Set.

Karen has a commercial background in consultancy, programme management and IT. A qualified accountant she works closely with the CEO to ensure the Trust’s strong financial position is maintained. Karen manages the teams delivering central support ensuring that schools have access to expertise and that systems meet the demands of a growing organisation to maximise effectiveness across the Trust.

Anne Normington

Anne Normington

Anne’s experience in primary education is extensive and wide-ranging, including leading schools in different contexts. As Head of Primary Education she leads the work of Excalibur’s primary phase, supporting schools in their drive toward excellence. Anne works with individual academies and leads the collective primary team school improvement work. Always at heart a teacher, Anne works closely with the primary academies supporting the Trust community.

Previously Director of Excalibur’s Teaching School, Laura is passionate about the quality of teaching and providing students of all backgrounds with a first-class education. This love of teaching and the ability to instigate and lead change is at the heart of all she does. Laura leads the secondary team driving towards educational excellence as well as developing talent management strategies across the Trust.

Catriona Mangham

Catriona Mangham

Catriona leads on cross Trust strategies including equalities, sustainability, coaching, supervision, health and wellbeing. She also leads on safeguarding across the Trust promoting a strong safeguarding culture. As a qualified Executive Leadership Coach she coaches leaders and supports individual projects and academies. Catriona contributes to charity and organisation groups on health and wellbeing in education and is a member of safeguarding think tanks and networks.

Kim Jones

Kim heads the HR function providing strategic advice and support for the Trust’s schools regarding human resources and people development. An Associate member of the CIPD Kim has a Level 5 Diploma in Human Resource Management and an ILM level 7 Diploma in Executive and Senior Level Coaching and Mentoring. As a qualified Coach she supports leadership development and is a reflective practitioner.

With a commercial background in HR, Training and Development Emma retrained as an ICT teacher. She joined Excalibur’s Teaching School, leading CPD and developing ITT and is Lead Partner with the Wiltshire and Swindon Teaching School Hub. Passionate about developing people to realise their potential, Emma focuses on delivering the Early Career Framework, Professional Development opportunities and talent management strategies.

Andrew Twine

An operational leader specialising in IT and project delivery Andrew joined Excalibur Academies Trust to oversee operational and business aspects of the trust, supporting the business managers and working alongside the CFO and Head of HR. Andrew’s role covers estates, health & safety, ICT & data management, procurement, pay & conditions and GDPR with a sharp focus on delivering excellent operational performance.

Val Wright

Qualified as both an engineer and an accountant Val has worked in education finance since 2010. She completed the CSBM and CIPD Level 7 in Financial and Operational Leadership through the National College. As Head of Finance and Compliance she is responsible for the financial reporting of all the academies and provides support and guidance in all aspects of finance including payroll.

With over 20 years experience in school and academy governance Nicola provides governance support and advice both Board and local levels. She ensures that the Board fulfils its statutory responsibilities and there is proper scrutiny and transparency of all activities. Nicola leads on the development of the Trust’s governance framework driving constant improvement of systems, processes and structures.

Christopher Field

A Computer Science graduate Christopher worked in financial services prior to qualifying as an ICT and business studies teacher. Consistently graded an Outstanding practitioner by Ofsted Chris is passionate about technology constantly exploring how it can be used to enhance teaching and learning. As Head of ICT strategy he provides support to stakeholders, identifying efficiencies and promoting a consistent, effective strategy.

ICT Service Manager

Matt Evans

ICT Service Manager
Matt Evans

Matt works closely with the Principals, central team and managers to drive the vision and steer the implementation of Excalibur’s ICT strategy. He is the focal point for the Trust on ICT support, procedures and infrastructure development ensuring effective, safe, secure and compliant IT provision across all our schools. Matt is the driving force for Office 365 development across the Trust.
