As part of its Design and Technology blocks of learning, St Katharine’s Primary School’s Year 5 and 6 children took part in a Dragon’s Den type challenge to invent, make and market a new brand of Smoothie! They used a local farm’s milk after spending time at the farm watching the cows being milked and finding out how they are cared for, fed and nurtured.
The children worked in pairs to research and make the smoothie, creating short advertising films and packing for the product.
A parent who runs a small catering business, along with Ms Jones and the milk farmers formed the judging panel. Students were awarded based on the following areas: taste, appearance, quality of presentation, branding, sustainability and overall creativity.
Well done to all involved for a highly successful and original day.
