Lambourn declared regional winners of #ReadAloudChallenge Awards

Congratulations to Lambourn C of E Primary School for taking part in the Fonetti #ReadAloudChallenge Awards, earning themselves a special invitation to the Awards Ceremony in London on 18th January, as the South-East Regional winners!

Team Lambourn spent the day at Amazon Head Office London, the hosts of the Awards. Clare Balding CBE (Fonetti’s Brand Ambassador) made the presentations to the regional winners and read an excerpt from her latest children’s novel, ‘The Horse Who Wouldn’t Gallop’ before talking to the children about her love of reading and how that has helped her in her work as an author.

Pupils Maysa and Bowie from Lambourn attended this special day, having read the most books, completing the most reading hours and earning the most stars, which contributed greatly to the school being the regional summer holidays winner.

The #ReadAloud Challenge is run over the Summer to prevent reading regression by signing up via this link: https://www.readaloudchallenge.co.uk/  Lambourn did just this, and promoted the initiative to children before the school holidays. Maria Cupit, Lambourn’s Principal then emailed parents weekly during the summer encouraging them to continue engaging with the app and letting them know where the school was on the National Leader Board. Below shows Lambourn’s data with number of children participating, number of reading hours etc.

Congratulations from all at Excalibur on this fantastic achievement.
