Cabot Primary School declared winners of the South West Regional Law Taskmaster competition

Congratulations to Year 5 students from Cabot Primary School who were declared the winners of the South West Regional Law Taskmaster competition at Bristol University! The winning students then travelled to Warwick to represent the South West, where they came second in the national competition.

The Law Task Master Project engages children with the law and encourages them to think about careers within this profession, through the setting of law-related challenges. Cabot Primary School worked with staff and students from the Bristol University Law Department and Erwin Mitchell Solicitors over six sessions. Each session the children were introduced to a problem linked to the law and were given a task to complete via a video by Alex Horne.

The icing on the cake was the opportunity for the children to actually meet Alex Horne (the creator and co-host of Taskmaster) and his band The Horne Section.

Felicity Llewelyn-Hodsgon, Principal of Cabot Primary School comments: “A huge congratulations to our students for not only winning the South West Taskmaster law competition, but coming second out of all the teams in the UK. They really embraced the experience, demonstrating logic and perseverance to take on the many fun tasks thrown at them. We look forward to seeing whether this fantastic experience will guide them down a future career in law. Only time will tell!”
