Burbage Primary: Developing school values, including welcoming 7 foot 7 tall professional basketball player as part of ‘Inspiration’
Children at Burbage Primary School have taken part in developing the school values which spell out LIFE – Learning, Inspiration, Friendship and Equity.
Each week, Burbage focussed on a different part with the highlight so far being “Inspiration”. The school was fortunate to be able to offer a special day of inspiration and welcomed Paul Sturgess, the tallest professional basketball player in Britain. At an impressive 7ft 7” tall (!), he talked about his time with the Harlem Globetrotters and his two entries in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Paul shared his journey from growing up in England to playing basketball at the highest level, emphasising the importance of hard work, dedication and believing in yourself. He engaged with the children through interactive talks, motivational stories and basketball drills, encouraging them to persue their passions and never give up on their dreams, no matter how big they may seem.
This memorable day at Burbage, which is likely to stay with all the children as they grow up, was funded by some of the money kindly donated from the Burbage Christmas Tree Sale.
