Consultation on Proposed Merger of Excalibur Academies Trust & Gatehouse Green Learning Trust

Following the retirement of Gatehouse Green Learning Trust’s long standing CEO, Sarah Baker, the Trust has undertaken a comprehensive review of the best way to support the provision of excellent education across all five Trust schools. This decision being to pursue a merger with Excalibur Academies Trust which has a strong presence in Bristol with shared core values and ambition for the children, staff and community.

The Process

Both Trusts are now working together to deliver a robust process to ensure that:

  • A merger is the right action to take for the pupils, staff, and communities of each Trust
  • All people affected by a merger (stakeholders) have an opportunity to express their views on the proposal
  • Planning takes place to maximise the benefits of the merger
  • The requirements of the Department for Education and Regional Director are met
  • A Steering Group made up of Trustees and senior staff from both Trusts is planning and overseeing the delivery of this process

Consultation

The consultation process will include opportunities for staff, families, and community members to meet with the leadership of both Trusts to learn more about the proposed merger and to ask questions. Additionally, other stakeholders will be consulted by email and information will be publicly available on this website and that of Gatehouse Green Learning Trust.
