HUNGERFORD English teacher launches ‘Colour Mile’ charity run

A HUNGERFORD English teacher is inspiring hundreds of students, staff and the wider community to raise money for great causes by launching the area’s first ever ‘Colour Mile’ at her old school.

Kelly Delaney is an English teacher at JOG where she herself was a student.

Now she is launching the first ever fun Colour Mile event on the JOG school field, on Saturday 1st April, with runs starting at 11am and 12noon after a fun warm up, to raise money for Prospect Hospice in Swindon, where her mother was cared for before passing away in 2015.

The rest of the money raised will go to JOG’s Parents and Students Association who do a fantastic job supporting the school.

The Fun mile walk (or run) will also see obstacles for children, and is open to all ages to come along and help raise thousands of pounds for these two local charities.

During the event there will be a BBQ, bouncy castle and refreshments, plus other fun and attractions.

Kelly said: “This is a brilliant school and extremely generous. We want to get the students, their families and the wider community involved in this tremendous event. We want hundreds of people to come and support it for the area and to raise thousands for these worthy causes.

“There is currently not really anything around here that is similar so we want this to become an annual event.”

Prices for the day are £12 for the 11s and over, £8 for JOG students, £5 for 5 to 11s, while it is free for the Under 5s. Participants will receive Neon glasses, a white t-shirt and a medal.
