Lambourn is a unique village school where pupils thrive in an almost magical learning environment, where pupils feel safe and very happy - Ofsted
Lambourn CofE Primary School is celebrating a highly impressive Ofsted report, with the education watchdog complementing the “highest expectations” of staff: “From the very beginning of their time in school, and in most subjects, pupils reach these expectations. Pupils develop a deep sense of belonging. They love their school and the contribution they make to community life. One pupil summarised the thoughts of others beautifully, stating, ‘Lambourn is a village of champions.”

The key to the Lambourn’s success also lies in the positive relationships staff build with parents/carers and pupils, resulting in the strong delivery of subject knowledge and the consistent modelling of respectful, supportive interactions within a calm and orderly environment. Ofsted found that “behaviour is impeccable” with pupils being “extremely polite”, with “good manners” and who “act as positive role models for each other”.
The range of extra-curricular activities on offer at Lambourn, such as regular swimming sessions in the school’s onsite swimming pool are extensive, with pupils being “taught to visualise their own successes, plan their goals for the year ahead and then work towards achieving them. This, together with expert pastoral care, supports pupils with their mental health and well-being”, effectively preparing them for a successful transition to secondary school. In addition, Ofsted recognised the value pupils place on leadership roles including “caring for the school chickens or acting as reading buddies who help younger pupils with their reading.”

Maria Cupit, Principal of Lambourn CofE Primary School comments: “We are delighted that our unique culture, ethos and surroundings have been reflected so clearly in this report. Every member of our school community plays an equally important role in what we achieve, and I couldn’t be more proud or more thankful to each and every one of them.”
Nick Lewis, CEO of Excalibur Academies Trust adds: “This report is a testament to the dedication, care and ambition that define Lambourn. I encourage everyone to read it, and even better, to visit and experience first hand the warmth, high standards and picturesque setting that makes the school so special.”
