Liden Academy celebrates opening of new 0–2 provision: a first for Swindon
Liden Academy has proudly marked the official opening of its brand-new 0–2 provision, becoming the first school in Swindon to offer this type of early years education for children as young as nine months old. There are already seven children aged between nine and 24 months attending sessions in the new unit, which forms part of Liden Academy’s unique all-through educational journey, providing continuity, stability and a strong foundation for learning.

The milestone was celebrated with a special event, with invitees including key figures from the Liden Academy and Excalibur Academies Trust’s communities, plus Sally Clarke from Swindon Borough Council. The event recognised the collaboration, commitment and shared vision that made this pioneering provision possible.
During the event, Jeff Mason, Principal of Liden Academy spoke of his pride in the school being the first in the town to open a provision of this kind. He highlighted how the new unit is already meeting a real need within the local community and thanked colleagues across the Trust and the Council who worked to bring the vision to life.
Nick Lewis, CEO of Excalibur Academies Trust echoed these sentiments, expressing gratitude to everyone involved and celebrating the positive impact this provision will have on families now and in the future.

The celebration included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, cake and time spent in the new provision, giving plenty of opportunities to interact with the youngest in the room!
Tours of the new provision can be arranged for anyone who wishing to see this innovative space and learn more about how it supports Liden’s youngest learners.
