Liden Academy spread festive cheer to hundreds

On the evening of Thursday 16th November, Liden Primary’s school choir attended The Wyvern Christmas Festival in Swindon to kick off the Christmas festivities. The children joined a number of schools in the town to perform in front of guests and parents. They sang a range of well-known traditional songs as well as an impressive eight-minute piece composed especially for the night.

The Wyvern Theatre in central Swindon is a focal point for the town; opened in 1971 and named after the mythical wyvern which was once the emblem of the kings of Wessex. Opened by the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, the theatre is a bustling environment oozing talent, creativity, famous faces and tributes.

Jeff Mason, Principal at Liden Academy comments: “We enjoyed a special evening with some 500 young people singing their hearts out to classic seasonal songs amongst some new favourites. I was especially proud of the Liden choir who performed with much confidence and zest. It was clear they were as proud as we were to be taking part in such a grand event whilst representing their school.”
