Roald Dahl Day was celebrated in style at Luckwell Primary School, as BFG, Fantastic Mr Fox, Matilda, Mrs Twit and Willy Wonka descended upon the school with flair, colour and huge amounts of creativity. The school celebrates and remembers this much loved author every year, with staff also enthusiastically getting into the spirit. During this day, a special assembly is held in addition to the sharing of favourite books.
Roald Dahl Day is on 13th September, the author’s birthday, during which people all over the world are encouraged to read his books, throw a story party, watch a film or donate to the Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity.
Lilly Byers, Headteacher at Luckwell Primary School comments: “This is one of our favourite and most anticipated days in the calendar, where children celebrate their love of reading with fun and creativity. This adds to our busy term, with our young people taking part in Bikeability, tag rugby, street cricket and pumpkin carving, in addition to a special performance of Alice and Wonderland.”
