Ian Tucker, the current Principal of St John’s Marlborough and Alan Henderson, who joins St John’s as the new Principal in September 2023, have been meeting over the last few weeks to ensure a smooth transition for all staff and students.
Alan Henderson has a 25-year career in education, which he began as a History teacher. St John’s Marlborough will be his third Headship, including four years at John O’Gaunt Hungerford, followed by four years at Melksham Oak School. A family man, Mr Henderson is married with two children age 16 & 21 and two cocker spaniels. He lives in Salisbury and enjoys skiing, running and watching sport, especially rugby and cricket.
From September 2023, Ian Tucker will become the CEO of the Magna Learning Partnership in Salisbury, having been Principal of St John’s for almost five years which included leading the school through the Covid-19 crisis. He also oversaw the planning and construction of the new sports hall which was completed in 2022 and is proud of the high academic standards that St John’s continually seeks to deliver for all the students it serves.
