World Book Day celebrations throughout the Trust

We have pleasure in sharing the different and creative ways our schools have gone about celebrating World Book Day; below features some fabulous photos from Ashton Park School, Fairfield High School, Luckwell Primary School, Ogbourne CofE Primary School and The Wren (please click on the photos and scroll through).

ASHTON PARK SCHOOL

In honour of World Book Day 2024, pupils and staff across the school took on the challenge of turning an ordinary potato into a book character of their choice. With entries that span from Metamorphosis to Alice in Wonderland and Of Mice and Men to Frankenstein, Ashton Park has undoubtedly thrown themselves into all things potato! Have a look at some of the fantastic entries!

FAIRFIELD HIGH SCHOOL

Fairfield started celebrating before the day even began with working hard to dress our classroom doors as book covers and creating our costumes for the big event!

During Tutor Time students competed in a new event, trying to “Guess the Teacher” behind the Book. The competition was so tight, two tutor groups won 1st place.

At breaktime it was time for costume judging and pictures. This year was extra special to have so many students and staff participate. During lunchtime the festivities continued with some fun activities and treats including bookmark creations, the WBD Organisation’s Dinosaur Competition and an impromptu choir hosted by Bilbo Baggins!

LUCKWELL PRIMARY SCHOOL

Luckwell celebrated World Book Day with lots of children dressing up as their favourite book characters. It also took part in plenty of fun activities throughout the day, including Stop Drop and Read and Who Am I?

OGBOURNE C OF E PRIMARY SCHOOL

Glamourous, Clatter, Clumsy, Carnivore, Discombobulated, Curious and Creative -not a reworking of the 7 dwarves but some of the ingenious characters to walk through the gates on World Book Day at Ogbourne, as everyone dressed up as ‘wow words’. Wow words, for those that don’t know, are ambitious vocabulary as the school strives to imrove its writing through explicit vocabulary teaching.

What a joy to see all the teachers and children make so much effort for this day. The school had a fun worship where the children were able to share their ingenious costumes with each other. They then returned to class to do some writing based on a story from another culture. After break it was Storytime where children has the opportunity to hear two stories chosen and read by staff.

THE WREN

The school was really impressed with everyone’s efforts! Staff came dressed as the Cheshire Cat, Peter Pan, Paddington and Barbie amongst many others.

Well done to the Excalibur Family for all of these fantastic efforts.
